When packing your box, follow these simple guidelines to help ensure that your package arrives safely!
--When wrapping fragile items, place the inflated part of the bubble against your item. Cover glass and fragile item surfaces two times with bubble wrap.
--For glassware, vases or anything else with a hollow inside, pack the inside cavity of the item with peanuts. This creates negative pressure on your item to help prevent crushing.
--Select a box large enough so that you have at least 1 inch of area around the item for packing material for non-fragile items and 2 inches of area around the item for fragile items. For very fragile items, use 3-4 inches of sturdy material.
--Don't use bubble wrap on very heavy items. The weight of the item itself will pop all the bubbles leaving you without cushioning. We use block styrofoam cut to fit the box, which not only provides adequate 'non-crushable' cushioning, but adds rigidity to the box.
--Don't use newspaper as packaging material - its cushioning power is simply not high enough to prevent breakage. Use packing peanuts, or bubble wrap or a combination there of. Foam wrap also works well between items like plates or glassware.
--Your item should be packed with the thought in mind that it will be jostled, rolled, and handled as it travels. Try to pack so that no matter how much shaking your item incurs, it won't migrate to where the box is touching the item.
